This is Formula Vee driver Steve Jones, you may have noticed his videos in our sidebar, that’s because as well as being a bloody good racing driver he’s friends with us here at WTF1. After a spin in race one, Steve started race two from last place… he won.

Doing it wrong: WTCC drivers driving as slow as possible in qualifying

Some complain about the Pirelli tyres ruining F1 qualifying but things could be a whole lot worse. The Salzburgring round of the WTCC saw probably one of the weirdest qualifying sessions ever with drivers not wanting to be leading during their lap, as they’d get slipstreamed.

It resulted in everyone driving as slow as possible until they all ran out of time to do a lap. Epic fail.

In true FIA fashion, the stewards acted like absolute bloody morons about it, giving drivers penalties that were all different to one another. Well it’s good to see it’s not just F1 where they make stupid decisions…

Dick Trickle lights up during a NASCAR race

The NASCAR world has been left in shock from the death of Dick Trickle, a suicide from a self inflicted gun shot wound. Dick was a legendary driver in NASCAR not for his success but his personality, competing for 24 years in NASCAR racing

If you think tweeting during a race was crazy, Trickle drilled a whole in his own crash helmet so he could have a smoke during the yellow flag periods! In the 1990 Winston 500, he was caught on live TV doing it, and below is the video.

WTF: Nico Rosberg in a supermarket trolley at Monaco

More weird F1 advertising for you now, with the trailer for the Monaco Grand Prix on German TV channel RTL. For some strange reason, it features Nico Rosberg speeding around Monaco on a shopping trolley and he doesn’t seem to be able to stop.

Either that or it’s Mercedes’ new drastic way of reducing tyre wear…

Dude looks like a lady: Richard Branson in drag after losing F1 bet

Why is there a picture of Richard Branson dressed as a woman and what does it have to do with F1? Well… back in 2010, Branson’s Virgin Racing team were up against Tony Fernandes’ Lotus team. The two decided to make a little bet. Whoever’s F1 team came out on top, would have the loser act as a female flight attendant on their airline.
